"Speed of Light"- Fastest or Constant?

What comes into your mind after hearing the word "Light"?

Everyone had told you since your childhood that light is the essential parameter of life.But have you ever think what actually light is? Is it a particle or energy or something else? Well light is an Electro-magnetic radiation which can be both a particle as well as a wave. OK good but is it enough about light? Is the light so simple as it seems to be?Well a big NO!

You can't experience the real nature of light on this planet but if you think about it at the level of cosmos then you might be completely surprised by its effects that it made on other celestial objects.Everything is moving in this universe. me,you,earth,sun,solar system, everything each have their speed of motion, light has too..but light is not just an participant in this race while its the winner.

Yes speed of light is greater than anything or anyone in this universe. No object or energy can move beyond this limit. Its speed is 2,99,792,458 m/sec which approximately 3 x 10^8 m/sec.You might get surprised right? if no let me tell you some facts, light takes just 1.3 second, 8 min and just 4 hours to reach the Moon , Sun and the farthest planet of our solar system Neptune from Earth.

Even if this may not surprised you then I want to tell you that The Proxima Centauri which is the closest star from our solar system, light takes just 4.29 years to reach there and if you compare this time with its distance from here that is more than 40 trillion kilometers then it is not the work of a cup cake.You can imagine this with only that a rocket flying with speed of 84000 km/hr would take more than 50,000 years to reach there.And this is just the case with the closest star their are more than 200 billion stars in our galaxy alone and you can't even imagine to reach there without achieving this speed. You are surely get surprised by now but their is many more you need to know about light.

As I told you above nothing can overpass the speed of light even to achieve it, you need an infinite amount of energy to move any object at such speed and when its come to infinite you know it's not practically possible. But this universe is so vast and beyond our imagination, everyday we learn something new from it, no one knows what happens in future and it may be possible that we found a way to achieve that speed but for now its only in lies in theories and science fiction movies.

I know you might be wondering now what will happen to you when you're moving with speed of light, yes we can't move with that speed but we have some experimental evidences that shows what happens at such speed to you,let us suppose we are so advanced and made a spaceship which can travel up to the limit of speed of light and you are sitting inside of it. So lets your journey..

At first when ship starts moving everything is normal and you are excitement about your journey,

When ship achieves the 0.1% of speed of light that is 3 x 10^5 m/s than everything going slow down near you and time is also running slower than usual but its so small so you can't experience it.

When your ship achieves the 1% of speed of light that is 3 x 10^6 m/s you start noticing minor effects of size and mass variation and time dilation.

When your ship achieves the 10% of speed of light that is 3 x 10^7 m/s you get stared shrinking and your mass increasing exponentially and time will become slow down by 1% than normal.

When your ship is at 95% of speed of light you shrink about to the size of thin stick,your mass increased by 100 times and time get slow down by 1/3rd than normal.

When you achieve the 99% of speed of light you shrink about to the size of an atom and your mass increased by hundred tons of actual and time will go slow as much as a year on spaceship becomes equal to 7 years on earth.

And when you achieve the Speed of light "BOOM". Everything will disappear, you shrink to the size of photon, your mass becomes infinite and time has stopped for you. Your age stopped growing and you're now immortal..!
